In the vibrant heart of San Salvario, one of Turin’s liveliest and most eclectic neighborhoods, stands La Società dei Carbonari – a restaurant whose very name evokes camaraderie, passion, and a touch of rebellion.Founded in 2013 by four friends who met during their university years, this contemporary osteria has remained true to its founding philosophy: offering good food and good wine at honest prices, in a setting that’s warm, lively, and genuinely welcoming to everyone.

As you step inside the restaurant on Via Silvio Pellico, you’re immediately greeted by a cozy, informal atmosphere. Exposed brick walls, soft lighting, chalkboard menus, and solid wooden tables recall the charm of a traditional piola (a typical Piedmontese tavern) — but with a fresh, modern twist. It’s the kind of place that instantly feels like home, whether you’re here for a leisurely lunch, a dinner with friends, or just a glass of wine after work.
In the kitchen, three young chefs keep a continuous dialogue between tradition and creativity.Andrea Lupino, Andrea Capizzi, and Davide Garetto — all trained in some of Turin’s most renowned restaurants — reinterpret classic Piedmontese recipes while drawing inspiration from global culinary traditions. The result is a menu that changes often, always following the seasons and the chefs’ instinct for experimentation.

Our tasting journey began with an elegant sweet potato dish with vegan berry mayonnaise, leek cream, tomato brunoise, and sautéed spinach — colorful, balanced, and full of character.

Next came the paccheri with fondue of Piedmontese toma cheese and potato cream, enhanced by burnt tomato oil and Sichuan pepper — a bold combination that perfectly marries local tradition and international flair.
The tajarin with ragù alla finanziera paid homage to the region’s roots, with perfectly cooked fresh pasta topped with crispy carrot chips.

Finally, the “Grissinopoli” chicken with herb mayonnaise and turnip greens showcased the beauty of simplicity — comfort food elevated by care and precision.
For those who love to be surprised, the restaurant offers three tasting menus, each designed to explore the different souls of the Carbonari kitchen — all accompanied by warm, smiling, and attentive service.
