From 3 to 18 September 2025, the cities of Turin and Milan will once again engage in dialogue through the universal language of music, with a new edition of MITO SettembreMusica. Since 2007, the festival has been a symbol of cultural cooperation between two Italian capitals, renewing itself every year while preserving its identity.

Four thematic paths
Mitja and the Others – a tribute to Dmitri Shostakovich on the 50th anniversary of his death, alongside other composers of his era.
Berio and the Avant-Garde – celebrating the centenary of Luciano Berio, a master of Italian musical experimentation.
Revolutions: Times of War, Times of Peace – music as an expression of tension and hope.
Listening with the Eyes – interdisciplinary experiences that combine music, science, visual arts, and poetry.
Great orchestras and new voices
The program features some of the most prestigious names on the international music scene:
the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano,
the Filarmonica della Scala with Myung-Whun Chung,
the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra led by Michael Sanderling.
Alongside the giants of the repertoire – from Bach to Berlioz, from Palestrina to Shostakovich – the festival also highlights contemporary voices such as Karl Jenkins, William Kentridge, and Samy Moussa. Cultural bridges will be built through works ranging from South Indian Carnatic singing to the African American avant-garde of Julius Eastman.
Beyond concerts: immersive experiences
MITO 2025 is not only about listening, but also about immersing oneself in stories that transcend music:
Nomadic by Telmo Pievani and Gianni Maroccolo – a journey through biodiversity, poetry, and migration.
The Book of Women by Riccardo Nova – fusing Indian chants with Western mysticism.
Without Blood There Is No Cause – a powerful portrait of composer Julius Eastman, combining music, images, and words.
A project that unites
The festival is supported by solid institutions: in Turin, the Fondazione per la Cultura; in Milan, I Pomeriggi Musicali. Its artistic direction is entrusted to Maestro Giorgio Battistelli, who continues to balance vision and organization, innovation and tradition.
Thus, MITO SettembreMusica remains a cultural bridge between two cities, while also serving as an international laboratory that reflects the present and inspires the future.
