When people think about accessible tourism, they often focus only on removing physical barriers. In reality, accessibility is much broader: it means creating experiences that can be enjoyed by as many people as possible, regardless of their individual needs, abilities, or circumstances.
This is the vision behind Piemonte for All, a guide promoted by the Piedmont Region and coordinated by Visit Piemonte, developed in collaboration with Local Tourism Boards (ATLs), incoming tour operators, and regional tourism consortia. The project features 24 travel itineraries that combine accessibility and sustainability, offering experiences in culture, nature, food and wine, sports, and wellness.
What makes this initiative particularly meaningful is the collaborative process behind it. The itineraries were not simply selected; they are the result of a joint effort involving the entire tourism sector across Piedmont, with the shared goal of creating a more inclusive and higher-quality visitor experience. The guide is also available in a high-legibility edition, making its content easier to access for a wider audience.
The guide showcases a wide variety of experiences, from the vineyards of Monferrato and the historic villages of Valle Maira to lakes, art cities, nature trails, and food and wine itineraries. Each route includes useful accessibility information, helping visitors plan their trips with greater confidence and awareness.
At Heimat, we see Piemonte for All as a tangible example of how tourism can evolve into a more welcoming and inclusive model, where accessibility is not an additional service but an essential part of a high-quality travel experience.
Through this new blog series, we will continue to highlight projects like this, giving visibility to the people and organizations working every day to make Piedmont a more inclusive, welcoming, and accessible destination for everyone.
